The Canadian company UrtheCast and the U.S. company OmniEarth have signed a strategic agreement to support the UrtheDailyTM satellite constellation.
The planned constellation will image about 140 million sq. km of the Earth per day at 5 m resolution.
A key driver behind UrtheDaily is rapidly growing demand for precision agriculture. The daily revisit of the new satellites, together with the UrthePlatform cloud capabilities, will help farmers better assess crop conditions and act in time against pests to reduce yield losses.
Moreover, daily coverage of large territories will enable quality monitoring of real estate and natural features and change detection for intelligence use. The constellation will also provide a solid foundation for applications in financial forecasting in sectors such as retail and logistics.
