At Geo Week 2026 (Feb 16–18, Denver, USA), Topcon Positioning Systems showcased the CR‑S1 — a handheld scanner that combines lidar, panoramic cameras, visual‑SLAM cameras and a GNSS antenna in one device.
CR‑S1 expands the Capture Reality portfolio as a higher‑performance option alongside the CR‑S2. The new model delivers a denser point cloud, longer scanning range, and improved panoramic capture.
The center of the integrated workflow is the Topcon Collage software ecosystem for working with large datasets, which the CR‑S1 is built around. To improve positioning accuracy, the device can be connected to Topcon’s Topnet Live RTK GNSS correction service.
Primary use cases include surveying and construction. The solution is also suitable for land measurement, tunnel capture and modeling, forestry analysis, mining, utility mapping, and powerline inspection.
“Customers expect flexibility and efficient workflows, and our scanners and software are designed for exactly that — with simplified procedures, open integrations, and compatibility with mixed fleets of equipment,” said Ron Oberlander, Head of Topcon Geomatics Platform. According to him, Collage serves as a central data hub that ingests information from many sensors, so users can obtain accurate, detailed insights for decision‑making.
Software support includes MAGNET Flow for Android and iOS devices, MAGNET Bridge for desktop SLAM data processing, and Collage Web. Collage Web is a cloud platform for fast visualization, exploration and sharing of 3D point clouds directly in a web browser; it simplifies reviewing and validating datasets and supports efficient collaboration across projects. Via the Collage Cloud Connector desktop app, projects sync with Collage Web, enabling smooth integration with Autodesk and ClearEdge3D software. This workflow supports mixed equipment fleets and different industry systems, provides efficient data exchange, and ensures consistent access to projects both on workstations and in the cloud.
Several mounting options are available: a backpack and chest module for hands‑free scanning while walking, a rover‑pole mode, and an adapter for mounting the CR‑S1 on a vehicle for mobile mapping.
CR‑S1 is delivered through Topcon’s dealer network with training and support.
